Peter Wolters Made a 50% Reduction in LED Substrate Polishing Time

The high precision machine tools manufacturer Peter Wolters of America, a subsidiary of Peter Wolters GmbH, has made a breakthrough on LED substrate polishing time.

The company demonstrated that it has utilized a combination of chemical and abrasive technologies to reduce a 50% reduction in the time required to complete final polishing for flip chip or through substrate LED’s, thus this breakthrough can decrease the cost of ownership or the manufacturing cost of the LED when manufactured on C-plane sapphire.

The quality and clarity of the final polished surface is comparable with the utilization  of colloidal silica. The premixed slurry is shipped in a concentrated form, which can be easily thinned to the proper point of use consistency by adding DI water. However, handling and storage of this custom slurry does not require any exceptional processes or procedures beyond what is typical to common colloidal silica.

It’s said that the Peter Wolters in-house professional team of scientists and engineers mixed and tested the quality slurry product, therefore the highest levels of consistency and quality are maintained.
